The two most common options are textile (fabric backdrops) and vinyl band backdrops. Here’s what every band should know before ordering!
1. How They Hang on Stage
Textile backdrops: Fabric hangs naturally. It’s light and easy to transport, but heavy enough (around 210 g/m²) to stay flat and avoid flapping under stage fans or outdoor wind. Your band logo looks sharp, and the backdrop blends into the stage.
Vinyl backdrops: Heavier and stiffer. They tend to curl at the edges or reflect stage lights. Outdoors, vinyl can act like a sail and stress the rigging.

2. Transport and Storage
Fabric backdrops: Fold it, roll it, or pack it in a bag. Take it with you in your van, ship it cheap to the starting venue of your tour or even carry it with you on a plane. Wrinkles shake out easily, and you can iron or wash it after your tour.
Vinyl backdrops: Must be rolled. Once folded, vinyl keeps crease lines permanently. Harder to travel with unless you have a dedicated tube or flight case.

Textile backdrops: Out professional band backdrops come with a B1 fire-resistant certificate. Many venues and festivals in the EU require this before you can hang it, especially when used indoors.
Vinyl backdrops: Most budget vinyl prints don’t include fire safety certification. That can mean last-minute problems at festivals.
